HEY FRIEND! I'm Kara
I'm so glad you're here on my little corner of the internet where I share all things business & design. Palme Design Co. is a studio focused on website + branding design for photographers and creatives.
Well, to be specific, they’re hurting your website and your SEO. Now, if you don’t have a website then no harm done!
I’ll mainly be referencing LinkTree in this post since they tend to be the most popular and well known platform of it’s kind, but insert any platform here that you’re using that has the same type of functionality and purpose.
Now, if you do have your own website instead of using LinkTree you need to have a page on your website where you are putting your links! Here’s why…
Every time someone clicks the link in your bio, that is SEO gold! It’s showing Google that your website is frequently visited. Even if you are linking things on your links page that take them off your website, you are at least getting that initial click instead of giving it to LinkTree and missing out on that traffic altogether.
Not only are clicks SEO gold, but they are also a way to see who is coming to your site (demographically speaking) and how they are using your site – i.e. what links they’re clicking on, how long they’re there, etc. This is also really important if you are trying to gather pixel data to help you optimize your ads. If they never land on your site because users click on a link that doesn’t take them to your site (like if you have an affiliate link in your LinkTree) then you’ll never get that data.
Don’t have any analytic tracking on your site? The two I highly recommend is Google Analytics and HotJar. Both of these are free to use and help you understand what types of people are coming to your site, where they are coming from, and what they are doing once they land on your site.
Having a compelling, attention grabbing online presence is key in today’s world in order to capture the eye of dream clients. By having your link page on your own website, you can create a branded, memorable experience right from the get-go. No more boring designs with just a list of links.
Let’s say someone is looking for a wedding photographer and they are doing an instagram search and come across 5 different photographers in her area and she clicks on all 5 link in bio’s and sees 4 boring LinkTree pages and then comes across your links page that is beautifully designed and feels like you right off that bat, that’s an immediate connection you’re going to make with that potential client. Are you going to soon be forgotten in the mind of that client? Nope. You’re leaving a lasting impression that also communicates a professional, higher end vibe that will make potential clients not only be willing to pay a more premium price, but they will also already have trust that the experience you provide is premium as well.
Not sure where to get started when it comes to making your own links page? I’ve got you! Grab my free link in bio page for your Showit website so you can have a framework already to go that just needs your personal touch so you can start getting that SEO gold, access & analyze data, and create a branded experience right from the first click.
